THE Philippine Embassy in Riyadh and the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah have urged all Filipinos in Saudi Arabia to remain vigilant, prioritize safety, and reconsider non-essential travel following the closure of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, where missile attacks have killed more than 20 people.
In the statement dated Oct. 15, Philippine authorities reassured the Filipino community that diplomatic missions, along with partner agencies, are actively monitoring the situation in the Kingdom.
Addressing concerns over transit and travel, the advisory confirmed that King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh is currently closed.
Filipinos with affected or canceled flights are advised to stay in direct contact with their respective airlines for updates.
Furthermore, officials strongly urged individuals planning upcoming travel out of Riyadh to carefully reconsider their plans unless travel is deemed strictly urgent.
For workers concerned about the status of their final exit visas, the embassy advised consulting directly with employers or reaching out to the nearest Migrant Workers Office for assistance.
While the Philippine government confirmed that no official repatriation flights have been scheduled at this time, commercial flights remain operational at other key aviation hubs across the kingdom, including Jeddah and Dammam.
Filipinos are urged to stay calm and strictly observe recommended security protocols.
The advisory also underscored the importance of maintaining open communication lines with employers to ensure personal safety.
Saudi authorities have assured the public that heightened security measures are in place and that daily life across the kingdom continues normally.
The embassy and consulate general confirmed that their administrative offices remain fully operational.
Filipinos needing emergency assistance are directed to contact local Saudi authorities immediately.
