Record RM1.015b boost for cooperative movement, says Alamin

Tuaran: The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Sabah’s grassroots economy through the cooperative movement, with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (Kuskop) receiving a record RM1.015 billion allocation under Budget 2026.

Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin said the allocation represents a 24.6 per cent increase compared to the previous year and is expected to benefit entrepreneurs nationwide, including in Sabah and Sarawak.

He said this while officiating the Programme on Strengthening Cooperative Awareness and Cultivating a Cooperative Culture in Tuaran Zone at Dewan Kak June on Tuesday.

Alamin said the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM)-organised programme aims to enhance public understanding of cooperatives as a platform for socio-economic development and community growth, while supporting the Madani Government’s inclusive economic agenda.

He said Malaysia’s cooperative movement, with over 7.1 million members, continues to generate economic opportunities and strengthen community networks, while urging effective implementation through the A.B.C.D strategy covering productivity shift, simplified bureaucracy, access to capital and market accessibility.
