After watching Marvel’s latest movie, Thunderbolts, it really dives into a side of heroism we rarely see where the flawed, the misunderstood, and those who’ve made mistakes. While watching the movie, it really just made me wonder whether some people are just bad or did something happen that made them the way they are? These characters weren't shining examples of morality; instead, they’re individuals trying to redeem themselves after bad decisions shaped by harsh circumstances. This idea hits close to home, especially when thinking about how we handle wrongdoing in our own society.

Malaysia has seen how even minor "offences," such as instances involving the national flag, may cause widespread outrage. While patriotism is important it's also critical to consider whether the behaviour was motivated by hatred or by ignorance, immaturity, or impatience. Context is important. Perhaps we could start with empathy and education rather than harsh punishment right away.

Thunderbolts shows that redemption is possible, even for those who have fallen far. These characters made wrong choices, but they aren’t evil. They are human beings molded by their environments, traumas, and lack of choices. Doesn’t that reflect the reality many face? Poverty, peer pressure, or even just being in the wrong place at the wrong time can lead people to actions they regret.

We must reconsider our understanding of justice. Is it only about punishing every mistake, or should it also involve helping others improve? Shouldn't we give someone room to grow if they truly wish to change?

Everybody makes errors. Not all are created with evil intent, but some are larger than others. Some people, like the Thunderbolts, simply require another opportunity to demonstrate their true selves.

Let's build a society that values compassion as much as accountability. Since redemption is not a sign of weakness. It's among the most powerful things one can do.
