REDMI just announced the brand new REDMI Note 15 series of smartphones! Yes, the highly anticipated smartphone series is back again and today we have the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G. It’s still a highly affordable phone, starting at only RM1,399 – and also touted to be durable, both physically and in terms of software. So let’s find out what this phone has to offer.
Design
When we first unboxed the phone, the first thing that caught our attention is the design. We have the Mist Purple color with us and it has this unique matte purply marble texture with a calming effect whenever I look at it.

The REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G is indeed available in other colors, like Titanium Color, Glacier Blue, and Black. The back panel is indeed made out of fiberglass – and I actually like this more than glass. It’s more durable against drops, and it won’t shatter.
Screen
The screen is a surprisingly straightforward one as it is using a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2772×1280 pixels and also goes up to 120Hz refresh rate. The specs on paper is pretty standard.

When we tested it ourselves, the screen is actually quite fantastic. The maximum brightness achievable is also around 1380 nits. The colors though, is what amazed me.

The default vivid color profile can cover 99.94% of sRGB and 98.39% of DCI-P3 color gamuts with a very low average ΔE number – and I am actually surprised that a smartphone at this price can have such amazing colors.

Of course, we also have to push it to its limits by switching over to the saturated color profile and that pushes the display to cover nearly 100% of DCI-P3 color gamut too. The average ΔE is still very low, which is amazing.

The entire screen is also protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 as well.

Battery life
Let’s also talk about the battery life. The REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G has a 6,580mAh battery in it – and using our standardized battery life test, it can last around 16 hours and 45 minutes.

It can definitely last a day’s usage without breaking a sweat. We’ll also talk about this more in a while.
Charging speed
Now, what about charging speed? The REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G does come with a 45W proprietary charger in the box and it can charge from 15% to completion in around 78 minutes. It’s actually pretty good for a phone with this battery capacity.

Then, we can head into the settings menu and turn up the charging speed as well. That won’t actually drastically speed up the time required to reach from 15% to completion, but it can reach to the 50% mark by nearly 10 minutes faster.

When we do use our USB-PD PPS charger, it can take in 27W max and it can charge from 15% to completion in around 82 minutes. It’s not that far off from the proprietary charger.

Performance
The performance is going to be something that a lot of people will focus on. Fortunately, the performance here is actually quite okay. This REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra – which you can watch our other video to know what the Ultra actually stands for – and also 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Remember, the RAM speed matters more than the RAM amount.

For a chipset of this caliber, the simpler games like COD Mobile will run exceptionally well. We turned on the super resolution setting as well, which bumps up the render resolution and makes everything look sharp.
For higher-end games like Genshin Impact though, it will hover at around 30fps even at the lowest graphical settings. It’s still playable, just that it will be a bit more stuttery.
Software
As for the software, the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G comes with HyperOS 2 out of the box. It’s basically what we expect since we dealt with many devices using HyperOS 2 before. Despite being a mid-range device, it is very smooth to navigate around and jump between apps.

REDMI still guarantees this phone to have 4-6 years of reliable performance and durability – which is in line with the software update policy of 4 years of Android OS upgrades and 6 years of security patches.
Camera
Let’s also talk about the cameras. There are two cameras within this camera bump. One 200MP main camera, and another 8MP ultrawide angle camera. The camera quality in itself is actually what matters the most, and I do think it takes pretty decent-looking pictures.

Durability
Okay, let’s dedicate one special section to this phone. Since the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G is said to be “durable”, so let’s try it out. Of course, we can do the standard drop tests and waterproof tests. This phone in particular is rated for IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K dust and water resistance.

While that might look like nothing surprising, it’s still surprising that a phone of this price point has such durability. But the physical durability is only part of it.
REDMI claims to have improved hardware optimization and battery longevity and prevents common issues like lag or rapid battery degradation.
Because the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G is using such a large battery capacity, the battery charge cycles will be even longer – which in turn delays the effects of battery degradation. Remember, the screen is also protected by the Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
They’re so confident in their new REDMI Note 15 series of devices’ overall long-term durability that they’re providing an extended 2-year warranty, including screen and battery coverage as well. Yes, for the entire REDMI Note 15 series of devices.
To further elaborate on this, it’s actually:
- 1+1 year of standard warranty
- 4 years battery warranty (get a new phone replacement for free if the battery health drops below 80% within 4 years)
- 2 years accidental warranty on screen/liquid/back cover repair claim for one time only
A few more things to mention
And a few more things to quickly go through. The REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G comes with a USB 2 port at the bottom, and there’s no display mirroring or anything.

It does have dual SIM card slots, and it also obviously has an IR blaster as well. It’s a staple in the REDMI series.

Should you buy the REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G?
So after all that, you saw what the new REDMI Note 15 Pro 5G can do – should you buy this phone? At the starting price of RM1,399, I think it’s actually a very compelling price point.
The performance is in the mid-range category, and if you’re just looking to play some simpler games like COD Mobile or PUBG Mobile, then this phone is perfect for that. The screen also looks great for these games, by the way. We can game for hours non-stop thanks to the big battery capacity, and we can charge it back up quickly with the included 45W fast charger.

Plus, if you buy it right now, you can even score a free double storage upgrade to 512GB too!
And that’s not all, early birds can get a FREE REDMI Pad SE 8.7-inch with a case that’s worth RM748. Yeah, the free gift is worth like half the price of the phone itself – just as a bonus reward for you for ordering the REDMI Note 15 Pro early.
