Kota Kinabalu: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Women Chief Datuk Redonah Bahanda announced her candidacy for the coming state election, aiming for the Bandau state seat, currently held by brother, Datuk Wetrom Bahanda.

Her bid highlights a larger push for increased female representation in Sabah’s political landscape.

AdvertisementBesides family name, Redonah cited long-standing political involvement (since 2002) and commitment to her constituents as the primary drivers of her candidacy.

Redonah’s campaign is intrinsically linked to her commitment to achieving 30 per cent female representation in decision-making role across Sabah.

Redonah already submitted four names, including hers, to GRS Women Chief Datuk Seri Panglima Azizah Mohd Dun for consideration as potential candidates.

“These candidates represent a blend of experience and fresh perspectives. The coming election is already underway,” Redonah said.
