- Ms McGill was sentenced to five years and 10 months in 2019 for hiding her father's death to fraudulently claim £740,000 in benefits and a war pension.
- Ms Pochin defended her actions, saying she takes constituents at face value and her office does not run background checks, adding that Reform UK opposes benefit fraud.
- The incident comes as Nigel Farage's party has pledged the largest benefits bill cut in UK history if they win the next general election.
