Considering the difficult geographical terrain and limited accessibility, teachers posted in the Morni and Kalka hilly areas have been granted relaxation in performing Census duties. The teachers can now undertake Census-related field visits during school hours.
The step has been taken to ensure that the assigned work is completed efficiently, without compromising with the safety of the teachers.
Deputy District Census Officer-cum-District Statistical Officer Sunil Jakhar stated that the decision will not only help in the timely completion of the Census work, but also protect the teachers from potential risks associated with evening visits to vulnerable areas.
The teachers in the hilly regions of Morni and Kalka have been assigned duties related to the ongoing Census operations. It has been brought to the administration’s notice that due to the difficult terrain and accessibility issues, it is extremely challenging for the teachers to carry out Census-related work after the school hours. Concerns have been raised regarding teachers’ safety, particularly due to wild animal movement.
Jakhar added that the District Development and Panchayats Officer (DDPO) has been directed to issue necessary instructions to all gram sachivs and sarpanches across the district to extend full support and cooperation to enumerators in their respective villages. Their assistance will be crucial in ensuring accuracy, efficiency and the timely completion of Census operations.
