Tuaran: Almost 40,000 individuals in the country were given relief from the bankruptcy list as of last February.

Sabah Representative Wives’ Charitable Trust Organisation (Mutiara-GRS) President Datin Seri Datuk Juliah Salag said based on statistics from the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), Sabah is one of the states with the highest recorded number of bankrupts for the 2020 period until May 2022.

“Some 17,599 people have been reported bankrupts nationwide, with 1,642 from Sabah.

“These statistics show how serious the debt problem and bankruptcy cases are involving Malaysians, including Sabah.

“Therefore, take full advantage of programmes like today so that we can manage our finances better,” he said when officiating the Madani Parenting @ LPPKN: SmartFinance Pantai Dalit Community Roadshow Programme at Rumpun Bajau Samah Sabah Cultural Centre on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Juliah called on parents to continue to play an active role in ensuring the well-being of their respective families.

“Our responsibility is not just to provide a living, but also to play an active role in ensuring the well-being of each family.

“In addition, parents are also responsible for overseeing the development and association of children with their peers because it has a great influence on their daily lives and future,” she added.

The programme was the 18th series and will be continued in selected state constituencies.

Also present were Pantai Dalit Assemblyman Datuk Jasnih Daya who is also Executive Chairman of Innoprise Corporation Sdn. Bhd., Vice-President II Datin Seri Panglima Linda Ewit who is also Chairman of Mutiara-GRS Welfare Bureau, Coordinator of the Santuni Civil Community Roadshow in Pantai Dalit Datin Haraini Usman, District Officer Hadzlan Jablee and Senior Director of the National Population and Development Board (LPPKN) Suszma Khairitszi Mamat.
