Remains found at dump site identified as missing teen after 33 years

  • The remains of a teenage boy, previously known as “Camarillo Teen 1993,” were identified as Joseph Patrick Reardon, 33 years after their discovery at a California dump site.
  • Reardon's partial remains were found on August 30, 1993, but his identity and the circumstances of his death remained unknown for decades.
  • In March 2025, advanced DNA testing by Othram Labs led to the identification of Reardon, who was born on June 17, 1970, in Fresno.
  • Despite the identification, authorities state that critical details surrounding Reardon's life, whereabouts, and how his body ended up at the dump site are still unknown.
  • The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Unit is actively seeking public assistance, urging anyone with information about Joseph Patrick Reardon, also known as Joe Gilbreth, to come forward.
