Remains of all five Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash victims in Long Lellang, Baram, have been handed to their families, says Sarawak police.
MIRI: The remains of all five victims of the Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Baram, were handed over to their next of kin today.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said that with the handover process completed, subsequent arrangements, including transporting the remains to the victims’ hometowns, would be handled by the victims’ families with assistance from the relevant parties.
“Police have handed over all the victims to their next of kin for further arrangements,” he told reporters at Miri Hospital today.
He said flight arrangements to transport the remains home would be made according to the needs of each family, with some expected to be flown home tomorrow.
Before the handover of the remains, police also carried out the process of identifying the victims’ personal belongings for handover to their respective next of kin.
He said the Air Accident Investigation Bureau was continuing with investigations to determine the actual cause of the crash on Tuesday, which killed four medical personnel and the pilot.
