
KUNAK: Repair works to address structural damage on the federal Kunak-Tawau road is set to begin today (Tuesday).
State Public Works Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya confirmed the contractor’s pledge to begin pothole repairs on Tuesday, responding via text message to Daily Express after the newspaper forwarded photos and location details of the damaged road sections.
AdvertisementThis came following concerns raised by PKR bureau member Djapri Kudosat, who highlighted the deteriorating road conditions along the Km 5 to Km 8 stretch of Jalan Kunak-Tawau.
Djapri noted that over 10 potholes along the route pose risks to drivers.

Read more Adding to these concerns, Persatuan Barisan Pengguna Sabah President Nordin Thani reported receiving numerous complaints about poorly maintained federal roads, particularly in Kudat, Keningau and Kunak.
Nordin said contractors’ delays in road maintenance were unacceptable, urging both the Public Works Department and appointed contractors to prioritise repairs for public safety.
