Repeated crocodile sightings in Papar village

PAPAR: Residents of Kampung Air Pituru, Sabindo, are urged to remain vigilant following repeated crocodile sightings in the village.

A resident, who declined to be identified, said crocodiles were frequently sighted.

He advised fishermen, as well as women and children, to avoid activities near the river.

“There are two or three crocodiles measuring between 10 and 15 feet in length. One of them is estimated to weigh more than a tonne and about 15 feet long.

They are often seen in the river, so residents should stay away from the riverbanks,” he said.

He also urged fishermen to exercise caution when boarding their boats.

Although no attacks have been reported, residents are warned not to be complacent as crocodiles pose a serious danger.

According to the resident, the matter has been reported to the Wildlife Department, which has deployed baited traps to capture the crocodiles.
