Replacement Ranau Hospital plans move forward

Kota Kinabalu: Plans for the proposed Replacement Ranau Hospital are moving forward through the collaboration between the Sabah Health Department (JKNS) and the State Government to improve healthcare services for residents in the district.

Sabah Health Department Director Datuk Dr William Gotulis said the project is among JKNS' strategic priorities to expand healthcare delivery capacity in Ranau in line with the district's growing population and demand for medical services.

He said the replacement hospital would provide more modern, comfortable and comprehensive facilities with increased capacity to cater for more patients while reducing congestion at the existing Ranau Hospital.

"It will not only improve the wellbeing of the people but also strengthen the public healthcare system in rural and interior areas, in line with the commitment of the State and Federal Governments to ensure quality healthcare access for all," he said during a courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun recently.

Masidi, who is also State Finance Minister, was briefed on the project's progress, including its planning status and the proposed site, and welcomed the initiative, saying it would strengthen healthcare services in Ranau and surrounding areas while also contributing to infrastructure development, employment opportunities and local economic growth, besides expressing appreciation to the Health Ministry and JKNS for their commitment to the project and hoping it would be implemented on schedule.
