
Deputy Commissioner, Shimla, Anupam Kashyap has directed patwaris to submit reports on individuals involved in the drug trade to Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), who will closely monitor the matter to aid investigations into properties acquired through illegal narcotics activities.
He instructed the Revenue Department and other departments concerned to provide timely information to the police during investigations related to properties owned by drug traffickers.
Chairing a meeting of the NCORD (Narco Coordination) committee, Kashyap said all departments would work collectively in the anti-drug campaign. SDMs and DSPs presented reports on awareness and enforcement activities carried out over the past month.
The Deputy Commissioner said information about the “Drug Free Himachal” mobile application would also be shared with students in schools and colleges to strengthen awareness efforts.
He further directed the Excise Department to maintain strict vigilance on illegal liquor supply and stockpiling during the ongoing Panchayati Raj Institution elections. He said departments and stakeholders should continue regular coordination meetings until the completion of the election process to support efforts towards a drug-free society in the district.
SP Gaurav Singh said the police were taking strict action against drug traffickers and NDPS cases were being pursued vigorously.
