Iran has presented its response to the US proposal for ending the war to mediators in Pakistan, Iranian state news agency IRNA reported on Sunday, citing a source familiar with the matter.
No details were given about the specifics of the response, but the source was quoted as saying that negotiations in this phase are focused only on ending hostilities in the region, as outlined in the proposed peace plan.
Iran's government had said a few days ago that it was examining the US proposal, a 14-point declaration of intent, which aims to establish a framework for an initial 30-day period of negotiations to end the war.
Media reports say discussions are also under way on a relaxation of US sanctions and agreements on the future of the Strait of Hormuz. The proposal is also said to lay the groundwork for negotiations on Iran's controversial nuclear programme.
