Report: Man who ‘heard voices’ charged with mum’s murder

PETALING JAYA: A 38-year-old man has been charged in a magistrate’s court in Ayer Keroh, Malacca with murdering his own mother, The Star Online reports.

No plea was recorded from accused Amirul Hakim Abu when the charge was read before magistrate Mazana Sinin.

Based on the charge sheet, the accused caused the death of his mother Rozizah Md Dim, 64, at No 2662, 9 1/2 mile Kampung Paya Luboh, Tangga Batu here between 2.30pm and 3pm on July 5.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

It was reported that the victim, a retired teacher, was allegedly stabbed twice in the neck by her son at home.

State police chief DCP Datuk Zainol Samah was quoted as saying that the suspect had stabbed his mother with a 26cm knife after hearing voices telling him to do so.
