Olympique Marseille have dropped forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from the squad for the Ligue 1 match against Le Havre after he allegedly sprayed a staff member with a fire extinguisher, the L'Equipe newspaper said on Saturday.

According to the report, Aubameyang led a group of players through various rooms at the club's training centre, in what sources described as an attempt to "create some atmosphere."

But things escalated after a fire extinguisher was allegedly used to spray a member of Marseille's sporting administration tasked with enforcing the player's curfew.

The players have recently spent repeated nights confined at the training ground due to their slump in performance.

The report said that Aubameyang apologized to the staff member and explained that he simply wanted to keep spirits high during a "summer camp"-style celebration.

Marseille are currently seventh in the Ligue 1 standings and at risk of missing a spot in Europe. They visit Le Havre on Sunday.
