Ukraine has attacked targets including oil facilities and a port in Russia's Black Sea region of Krasnodar and on the Crimean Peninsula, according to media reports on Tuesday.

The oil terminal and oil depot were near the large city of Kerch in eastern Crimea, the online portal Ukrainska Pravda reported. It said the Port of Kavkaz in the Krasnodar region on the opposite side of the strait, a facility previously attacked, also came under fire.

There has so far been no official confirmation of the attacks. Russia's Defence Ministry reported only that a total of 143 Ukrainian drones had been shot down, without giving details of any damage.

Images and videos circulating on social networks show explosions and fires during the night and dark smoke clouds in the morning. The airports of Krasnodar and Sochi were closed to air traffic for hours. Since the start of the war against Ukraine ordered by Russian President Vladimir Putin more than four years ago, no passenger aircraft have landed in Crimea.

In recent months, Ukraine has increasingly focussed its attacks oil industry targets. The aim is to make it more difficult for the attacking Russian troops to obtain fuel supplies and for Moscow to finance the war.

Residents of Crimea, which Russia illegally annexed in 2014, are feeling the consequences. For days, private individuals on the peninsula have been unable to refuel because of a petrol shortage.
