- Republican Congressman Tom Tiffany is recovering in hospital after the light aircraft he was travelling in made an emergency landing in Lake Wausau, Wisconsin, late on Saturday night.
- The single-engine, four-seat Bonanza aircraft lost power as it approached Wausau Downtown Airport following Tiffany's attendance at the La Crosse County Lincoln Day Dinner.
- Both Congressman Tiffany and the pilot were forced to swim to a shallow area of the lake as the aircraft began to submerge following the emergency water landing.
- Emergency responders from the Wausau Fire Department rescued both men by boat and transported them to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries.
- Tiffany, who is currently running for governor of Wisconsin with the endorsement of President Donald Trump, issued a statement expressing his gratitude to the pilot and emergency services.
