- Six beluga whales, rescued from the now-closed Marineland in Canada, have been transported to new homes in the United States.
- Marineland, a theme park and zoo in Niagara Falls, closed in 2024 as it could no longer care for its 30 beluga whales.
- Four of the whales – Acadia, Lillooet, Osiris, and Sierra – arrived safely at Chicago's Shedd Aquarium on Tuesday, 21 July.
- The remaining two, Bertie Botts and Frankie, were relocated to SeaWorld in San Antonio, Texas.
- Footage showed the mammals being airlifted by heavy-duty cranes during their journey, marking the first group of the 30 rescued whales to be evacuated.
