The official teaser trailer for Resident Evil has been released, offering a first look at a darker, reimagined take on the iconic franchise.
The film, from Columbia Pictures and Constantin Film in association with TriStar Pictures, will hit cinemas on Sept 17, and is filmed for IMax.
Directed by Zach Cregger (Weapons, Barbarian), the latest instalment ushers in a new era for the long-running horror series with an all-new storyline.
The film follows Bryan, played by Austin Abrams, a medical courier who finds himself caught in a night of escalating chaos after a horrifying chain of events unfolds.
As the situation spirals, he is thrust into a relentless, action-packed fight for survival.
The cast also includes Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser.
The screenplay is written by Cregger and Shay Hatten, with producers Robert Kulzer, Cregger, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Carter Swan and Asad Qizilbash.
Executive producers are Oliver Berben, Victor Hadida, Richard Wright and Robert Bernacci.
