After garnering global popularity with Moving, one of the most-watched Disney Plus K-dramas, in 2023, Go Youn-jung returns with her latest OTT project, Resident Playbook. For curious fans, here are all the details of the plot and the complete release schedule of all new episodes of the medical K-drama Resident Playbook.
Directed by Lee Min-soo and written by Kim Song-hee, Resident Playbook is a spin-off of one of the best K-dramas of the 21st century, Hospital Playlist.
Reflecting on his choice of the OB/GYN department as the backdrop for the series, director Lee shared in a press conference, “Obstetrics and gynaecology encompass two areas — obstetrics, which focuses on childbirth, and gynaecology, which deals with medical conditions. It’s a unique space where, on one side, new life begins, while on the other, families may face the loss of a loved one due to illness. This setting felt like a perfect match for the growth stories of our young medical residents, allowing us to create a variety of compelling and meaningful episodes.”

Previously, in the 2025 K-drama, viewers met first-year obstetrics and gynaecology residents of Jongno Yulje Medical Centre — Oh Yi-young, Pyo Nam-gyeong, Kim Sa-bi and Um Jae-il — as they began their first year at the medical centre under fourth-year resident Ku Do-won.
In episode 3, Dr. Seo Jeong-min offers Yi-young a chance to co-author a paper on the future of gynaecology. The offer unsettles Sa-bi, who is passionate about the field. Knowing Yi-young is likely to quit and has little interest in gynaecology, Sa-bi feels overlooked and frustrated that the opportunity isn’t going to someone who truly values it.
In episode 4, Sa-bi sabotages Yi-young’s paper by deleting her unsaved progress while she is away on an emergency. Dr. Jeong-min scolds Yi-young for messing up the paper and assigns her more surgeries as a consequence. Elsewhere, Sa-bi grows more frustrated, as she expected Yi-young to be punished and not given more opportunities.
Later, when Dr. Jeong-min leaves a sticky note on Yi-young’s laptop with further instructions, Sa-bi removes it out of spite. At the end of the episode, Yi-young, aware of the sabotage, forgives Sa-bi and instead asks her to assist the former in a surgery. Realising Yi-young bears no ill will, Sa-bi is left conflicted by her actions.
