
The School Education Department (Secondary), Punjab, has launched a special residential summer camp for meritorious students of Classes XI and XII to help them prepare for competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET. The camp commenced on June 5 at the Residential School for Meritorious Students here.
The initiative was aimed at providing quality academic support to government school students aspiring to crack national-level entrance examinations.
The camp is being conducted under the supervision of District Education Officer (Secondary) Rajesh Sharma and Deputy District Education Officer Rajesh Khanna. They said the main objective of the programme was to strengthen the students’ conceptual understanding and equip them with the skills required to excel in highly competitive examinations.
Principal-cum-Nodal Officer Swajit Kaur said 677 students from Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Fazilka, Ferozepur and Pathankot districts are participating in the camp.
During the residential programme, students will receive specialised coaching from experienced teachers and subject experts. The training has been designed in line with the pattern and requirements of various competitive examinations.
District Education Officer Rajesh Sharma said the Punjab Government was committed to creating better opportunities for students from government schools and enabling them to compete successfully at the national level. He also constituted various teams to ensure smooth functioning of the camp and issued necessary guidelines for an effective management.
The DEO encouraged students to make full use of the academic guidance and facilities being provided during the camp. He also urged teachers to work dedicatedly towards enhancing students’ abilities and boosting their confidence.
Among those present on the occasion were principal Mandeep Kaur, Amaninderjit Singh Dhaliwal, Rajan and other members associated with the camp’s management and coordination.
