LABUAN: Barisan Nasional Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin urged the Ministry of Finance (MOF) to initiate steps to restore Labuan’s status as a popular shopping destination.
Speaking during the ongoing Parliament session, he said there were 21 duty-free zones in the country and asked how many of these zones had generated economic impact to the Government.
In this context, Bung cited the example of Labuan, which he recalled was once a popular shopping destination for mainland visitors because of the variety of items that could be purchased at cheaper prices.
