French giants Paris Saint-Germain rejected an offer from Manchester United for Xavi Simons.

The young midfielder, who previously played for PSV Eindhoven, was secured by PSG in the summer due to a buy-back clause in the deal that took him to PSV from the French giants earlier in his career.

Simons was wanted by United and Germany's RB Leipzig, according to L'Equipe.

The source states that while United did have interest, they were only serious about a permanent offer, not a loan.

Leipzig also came in with a permanent bid at first, but adjusted the deal to a loan after negotiations with PSG.

Simons is now spending the season at Leipzig, where he has impressed in the Bundesliga so far.
