Manchester United were left to rue their failure to sign Martin Odegaard.
The Danish star has been a revelation at Arsenal in the Premier League in recent years.
However, Daily Star has revealed that United had two chances to sign Odegaard themselves.
United could have signed him in 2013 when David Moyes was still in charge.
There were also other chances in future years, when Odegaard was not getting regular game time at Real Madrid.
Eventually, Arsenal signed him on loan, then permanently, and it appears the perfect match.
