However, he did not let the issue ruin his mood, as he joined in with his teammates in all the post-game celebrations.
The Belgian did confuse fans when he was celebrating in a Sheffield Wednesday shirt.
@BeReyt0114 posted the footage on Twitter, showing De Bruyne wearing a classic Wednesday shirt from the 1990s.
It appears De Bruyne's wife Michele is good friends with the partner of ex-Sheffield Wednesday captain Glenn Loovens.
