Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix made a loan move to Chelsea only after being turned down by Manchester United.
The Portugal international was sent off on his debut in defeat at Fulham last night.
United had been the club that had shown the most interest in signing Joao Félix this month, says Ok Diario.
However, they stopped the operation dead due to doubts over undertaking the compulsory purchase option of more than €100m, which Atletico had insisted be included. It has since emerged that Chelsea took Felix on-loan without a permanent option.
Furthermore, the extraordinary performance of the attackers at United after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, especially of Marcus Rashford, convinced manager Erik ten Hag to pull back from negotiations.
