In a peculiar incident early this morning, two intoxicated individuals reportedly hurled a pottery vase at the Serdang police station after being reprimanded for riding without helmets. The vase, which was aimed at a fence and did not pose any serious threat, was thrown around 6:30 am, according to Serdang police chief ACP AA Anbalagan. No officers were injured in the incident.

The event unfolded when two suspects on a motorcycle stopped in front of the station. As one of the on-duty policemen approached to inquire about their presence, the pillion rider threw the vase towards the station's left fence before they both quickly fled the scene.

ACP Anbalagan suggested that the bizarre act was likely a reaction to an earlier incident at 2:30 am, when a policeman reprimanded a group of motorcyclists for not wearing helmets at a traffic light intersection just 20 meters from the station. This reprimand apparently provoked the suspects, leading to their impulsive and unlawful response.

The police are actively searching for the culprits, and the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which pertains to acts of mischief. ACP Anbalagan has called on anyone with information about the incident to contact the Serdang police headquarters at 03-80742222.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges police face in enforcing traffic safety regulations and dealing with public reactions to such enforcement. The reckless behavior of the suspects not only jeopardized their own safety but also reflected a disregard for law and order. The authorities are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure such incidents do not recur.

Community cooperation is crucial in such investigations, and the police rely on public assistance to maintain safety and order. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic laws and respecting the role of law enforcement in upholding public safety.
