Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Suang Lotud Association (Lotud) hopes the State Government will review the monthly allowance or salary for village heads.
Its president, Datuk Fredie Sua, said the current RM700 salary given to the village head has not been updated for a long time even though the cost of services has increased.
Citing the Johor state government, Sua said the salary had been increased from RM700 to RM1,200, last year, at Johor Assembly sitting.
“This is in line with the minimum wage previously approved by the Federal Government,” he said in a statement, Monday.
“As such, Lotud supports that the salary and allowance of the village heads should be considered to be increased in line with the salary rate implemented in the peninsula, in accordance with the service work that needs to be carried out as a village head.”
He said the Association is confident that Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor will pay attention to the rising cost of living and give due consideration to this proposal.
