My wife, Zarina and I love a countryside vibe for relaxation at Ekues Cabin Cafe with options like horse-watching, local/western cuisine & refreshing coffee, making it a popular spot for family tome outings, especially with indoor/outdoor seating and live equestrian events for added charm. This unique open air park setting offers serene environment for inspiration to me while I watched horses in the field. (https://www.facebook.com/Ekues-Cabin-Cafe-Putrajaya)
Reflecting on my involvement in research projects and training programs as CEO of Sejahtera Leadership Initiative (SLI), and Global Sejahtera, I realized leadership at any level is never easy. We all look to leaders, not just for an understanding of direction and priorities, but also for narrative, for explanation and for values and behaviors. In times of significant change and uncertainty, not only is it harder to be clear about direction, but the people who are being led look more for the human side of leadership, and its challenges, including empathy & compassion, a level of openness & consistency of human values. I found the paradox of uncertainty is that we don't know all the answer. Leaders should still set the direction but they have to be responsive to changing circumstances, be open to new realities and engage collectively to develop responses. To sustain credibility and trust in today's world, curiosity & humility come to the fore - recognizing there are more unknowns than knowns and that we can't just rely on the things that got us here (where we are currently).

Engaging in the new year conversations with Dr. Aboulkhair Tarason, Chairman of Basilan Ulama Supreme Council Foundation Inc. (BUSCFI) from the Philippines, who said that “Effective leaders must also manage and effective managers should also be able to lead. So, all leaders have to understand change and transformation to create the adaptive operating models and cultures for the sustainable and resilient organizations needed for the future.”
