Revolut to launch new premium airport lounges across Europe

Fintech group Revolut has outlined plans to establish a "new standard for airport hospitality" as it prepares to roll out its initial network of premium European lounges starting next year.

The company is set to launch its flagship venue at Copenhagen Airport (CPH) in 2027, marking the first site in a planned rollout across major European hubs.

The move highlights an ongoing push into physical offerings, coming shortly after the group opened its first store in Barcelona.

Hadi Nasrallah, who leads Revolut’s New Bets offering, stated: "Everyone agrees airport lounges tend to underwhelm, we want to bring our design ethos into the real world, and will be creating something gutsy and beautiful.

"We’ll strive to set a new standard for airport hospitality across Europe and bring more unique benefits to Revolut customers when they travel."

Mr Nasrallah pointed to the Nordics as a vital region for expansion, noting its user base of two million customers there is on track to pass three million by the end of the year.

The financial app currently grants access to more than 1,600 airport lounges internationally.

However, the upcoming Copenhagen hub will mark its first proprietary location and is projected to be the largest common-use lounge within the Schengen area, according to the business.

Revolut stated: "The upcoming Revolut Lounge concept is a tangible, high-end extension of the company’s premium travel benefits."

This development positions Revolut alongside other financial brands offering physical spaces, such as American Express and its Centurion Lounge Network.

Earlier this year, the company also launched its debut Revolut Store in Barcelona, demonstrating a growing focus on face-to-face consumer touchpoints.

Additionally, Revolut offers its premium account holders limited access to shared WeWork office spaces.

However, reports earlier this week revealed that several major WeWork locations, including hubs in London and Edinburgh, have recently been removed from the offering.

This strategy of developing physical experiences follows Revolut securing its UK banking licence earlier this year, ending a three-year wait for regulatory approval.
