RHB customers using the bank’s mobile banking app will now need biometric authentication to approve online transactions, following a security update that took effect in June 2026.
The bank has confirmed that fingerprint and Face ID verification are now needed when authorising transactions through the RHB Mobile Banking app. The requirement was first announced in May, with the latest notice confirming that the feature is now live.
Customers who have not yet enabled biometric authentication will be prompted to set it up the next time they log in to the app.
Existing Users Prompted To Enable Biometrics
According to RHB, customers who have not already enabled biometric authentication will see a prompt to complete the setup process after logging in to the mobile banking app.
The setup links biometric verification to both Quick Login and Secure Plus authorisation. Once completed, customers can use their device’s fingerprint sensor or facial recognition feature to verify their identity when approving transactions.
RHB said customers will receive a confirmation notification once the setup has been successfully completed.
Change Strengthens Transaction Security
The update means online transaction approvals are now tied not only to a customer’s registered device, but also to their fingerprint or facial recognition data.
For customers, the change adds an extra verification step when making transfers, paying bills, or approving other transactions through the mobile banking app. Those who have not yet enabled biometric authentication will need to complete the setup before continuing to use these features.
The requirement was first announced by RHB in May 2026 as part of the bank’s efforts to strengthen protections against scams and unauthorised account access.
