A Wattpad novel that has amassed more than 218 million reads is set to reach a wider audience with a series adaptation scheduled for release on Viva One this year.
“My Husband Is a Mafia Boss,” written by the late Diana Marie Serrato Maranan, known online as Yanalovesyouu, will be adapted into a Viva One original series directed by Fifth Solomon. The project marks the first on-screen pairing of Rhen Escaño and Joseph Marco.
The story follows Aemie Romero, a college student whose life takes an unexpected turn after meeting a young billionaire CEO who is later revealed to be a secret mafia boss. What begins as an unlikely encounter develops into a complicated marriage, drawing the couple into a world shaped by secrets, power struggles, and hidden identities.
Escaño plays Aemie Romero, a third-year college student described as cheerful, energetic, and often clumsy, whose personality leads her into a marriage she never anticipated. The role presents a shift for Escaño, who has appeared in various television and film projects, as she portrays a character that balances lightheartedness with resilience.
Marco stars as Ezekiel “Zeke” Roswell, an engineer, billionaire, and company CEO whose public image contrasts with his hidden role as a mafia boss. Reserved and exacting, Zeke is portrayed as someone who places trust in only a select few. His life changes after meeting Aemie, altering both his personal and criminal worlds.
The series also introduces a large ensemble cast. Frost Sandoval plays Kaizer Maxwell Lamperouge, Zeke’s right-hand man and a key member of the Roswell Mafia Group, while Sara Joe portrays Amesyl Cross, Aemie’s cousin and closest friend.
