Richmond Asia Group partners with Frasers Hospitality to manage Capri by Fraser hotel suites at Richmond Mayor in Johor Bahru’s Mount Austin.

RICHMOND Asia Group has secured a strategic partnership with Frasers Hospitality to manage the hotel suites component of Richmond Mayor, a sophisticated mixed-use development set to transform Johor Bahru’s Mount Austin neighbourhood.

The appointment, announced on January 13, brings world-class hospitality management expertise to the integrated development, which combines hotel suites, a premium lifestyle mall, office spaces, serviced suites, and serviced residences into a single cohesive destination.

A Vision for Modern Urban Living

Located in Mount Austin, one of Johor Bahru’s fastest-growing districts, Richmond Mayor is designed to serve multiple market segments simultaneously. The development targets property investors, homeowners, business owners, companies, travellers, and hotel guests with a carefully curated mix of amenities and services.

The architectural design features a distinctive semicircular arched glass facade that serves as the development’s visual signature. Complementing this modern aesthetic is an open-air plaza inspired by European design principles, creating a serene gathering space within the vibrant Mount Austin community.

“Richmond Mayor blends sophisticated architecture with meaningful conveniences – from premium lifestyle mall to holistic wellness services. Every element is curated to offer a refined, well-balanced urban experience. It is this combination that makes Richmond Mayor an ideal place to live, work, and invest – the rhythm of everyday life,” said Aaron Yap, Chief Executive Officer of Richmond Asia Group.

Premium Hospitality Under Capri by Fraser

Under the Frasers Hospitality management agreement, the hotel suites will operate under the Capri by Fraser brand, the company’s design-led hospitality concept. The property will feature 275 stylish studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments when it opens in 2030.

Guests and residents will have access to comprehensive facilities including an all-day dining restaurant, resident’s lounge, swimming pool, gym, and meeting spaces. The design specifically caters to business travellers and families seeking quality accommodation in Mount Austin.

Frasers Hospitality brings substantial credentials to the partnership. As a strategic business unit of Frasers Property, the company has accumulated 27 years of experience managing more than 100 properties across over 20 countries throughout Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Its award-winning brand portfolio includes Capri by Fraser, Fraser Suites, Fraser Residence, Fraser Place, and Modena by Fraser.

“Working with Frasers Hospitality as the hotel management for Richmond Mayor will certainly position this residence as a compelling investment choice and ideal accommodation for investors and residents. I am confident that our development shall be in excellent hands with Frasers Hospitality, offering their global hospitality service to the residents and guests at our residence,” Yap added.

Wellness-Focused Integration

Beyond the hotel component, Richmond Mayor distinguishes itself through a strategic focus on wellness. The development incorporates a holistic health and wellness ecosystem alongside its premier lifestyle mall, which will feature carefully selected retailers, a supermarket, and dining establishments.

This wellness-focused approach, combined with the premium retail offering, positions Richmond Mayor as more than just a residential or commercial address. It aims to become a comprehensive lifestyle destination that supports both business pursuits and leisure activities.

Strategic Growth Trajectory

The Hotel Management Agreement signing with Frasers Hospitality represents Richmond Asia Group’s continued commitment to hospitality-led investment strategies. The company recently announced a similar partnership with Barceló Hotels and Resorts for Richmond Estelar, a 199-suite hotel development in Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle.

This pattern of collaboration with internationally recognized hospitality brands aligns with Richmond Asia Group’s stated vision of delivering high-yield, lifestyle-driven assets with strong long-term value rather than conventional property developments.

The first phase of Richmond Mayor will be Tower A, which encompasses the hotel, office, and serviced suites components. This inaugural tower will establish the standard for the entire development and signal Richmond Asia Group’s approach to creating enduring value through thoughtfully designed, high-quality projects.

Looking ahead, Richmond Asia Group has set an ambitious goal of launching 20 hospitality-led developments within the next eight years. The company partners with globally renowned hospitality brands including Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Barceló Hotels & Resorts, and Frasers Hospitality to maintain international standards while pursuing what it describes as “visionary innovation, reserved opulence, and unyielding dignity.”

The Richmond Mayor development represents a significant addition to Johor Bahru’s evolving skyline and reinforces Mount Austin’s position as a dynamic growth district within the city.
