Who wouldn’t love a day at the waterpark, where the excitement never stops and there’s always something fun to do? But, you’d be amazed at how many different ways people can get into trouble in the water.
Amanda (pseudonym) reached out to WORLD OF BUZZ to share a horrifying incident that she and her friends experienced at a waterpark in Kepala Batas, Penang, allegedly due to the incompetence of the employees.
“It was an accident caused by the staff’s mistake. Yes, I saw the sign that says ‘ride at your own risk’ but this was different. It wasn’t just about taking risks, it was about the staff not doing their job properly & bad communication.”

The fun outing took a turn for the worse when their floaties got stuck halfway down the slide, turning the experience into a nightmare.
While they were stuck, the staff allowed 3 more people to go down the slide after them, despite their desperate shouts for help going unheard.
“The staff were supposed to make sure the slide was clear before sending the next ride down. But they didn’t. They let three more rides go down while we were still stuck in between the slide. We were shouting for help, but they didn’t hear us.”
“What’s worse, they didn’t even have walkie-talkies to communicate properly. If they did, they could have told the guy in charge to stop sending rides down until we were safe. But they didn’t have that, so we were left helpless.”
Amanda mentioned that when the staff finally noticed them, it was already too late. Although, they managed to dodge the 1st ride that came down the slide after them, they couldn’t avoid the 2nd & 3rd rides.

“When the 2nd and 3rd floaties came down, that’s when it really hit us, and I ended up with a permanent injury. I fell on my face, broke 3 teeth, and was bleeding badly, but the staff’s response was slow.”
She also mentioned that despite their injuries, the waterpark management didn’t have a vehicle ready to take her and her friends to the hospital. Instead, they had to make their own way there.
Shortly after, the police got involved, but the waterpark staff remained rude and refused to accept responsibility. Amanda added,
“Just because there’s a sign that says ‘ride at your own risk’, does that mean the park shouldn’t take any safety measures at all?”

She expressed relief that her injuries weren’t severe enough to include a broken neck or anything worse. However, she pointed out that the incident could’ve been prevented if the staff had checked to ensure the slide was clear before sending more people down.
She also noted that the staff’s negligence resulted in a permanent injury and bruises for her.
“They don’t take safety seriously. And I’m not the only one who feels that way.”
Other visitors who had been to the waterpark shared similar stories in the review section, expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of justice from the waterpark after suffering serious injuries.
She revealed that it’s worrying to see this recurring pattern, which indicates a lack of accountability and concern for visitor safety.
