Rings of Power season 3

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 3 is soon to draw us back into the high-fantasy world created by the illustrious J.R.R. Tolkien at the point where things get really intense.

Sauron, as we know, is now one step away from absolute domination of Middle-earth. But a new season 3 trailer offers the first glimpse of what seems to be an alliance that would go on to defeat the Dark Lord and bring an end to the Second Age. However, before that, Sauron is firmly set on his path to rule everyone in The Rings of Power.

Prime Video released a new trailer for season 3 of the series, which is part of the wider The Lord of the Rings franchise. Though the series isn’t entirely based on Tolkien’s fantasy novel, its narrative builds on the work’s appendices.

J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay are showrunners and executive producers. They are joined by executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and executive producer-director Charlotte Brändström. Matthew Penry-Davey is producer and Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee are co-producers.

Season 3 begins five years after the events in The Rings of Power season 2.

In the season 2 finale, Celebrimbor dies as Eregion falls and Sauron takes all the Nine Rings from Men. The Dwarves save the lives of embattled Elves, including Elrond and Gil-galad, while Galadriel survives her encounter with the Dark Lord and saves the elven ring Nenya from him.

But Sauron has the upper hand; the elves retreat to a valley that would later become Rivendell, and the Dark Lord’s orc army marches triumphantly through the lands he now controls. But he still needs the One Ring to help him rule over Men, Elves and Dwarves.

According to Amazon’s official plot description for season 3 of the Prime Video show, Sauron still faces resistance from isolated pockets not under his control. These include the dwarven stronghold Khazad-dûm and the elven realms of Lindon and Rivendell.

Sauron is busy forging the One Ring in his newly built tower, Barad-dûr, in Mordor. But every move he makes further unites the Elves, the Men and the Dwarves, who are also helped by the wizard Gandalf.

On the other hand, political factions are pushing the island kingdom of Númenor to the brink of civil war.
