A hooded rioter attacked a woman with an improvised flamethrower on Friday (1 October) amidst student demonstrations in France.
Protests began over demands for better school conditions, with students calling for more teachers and funding.
In a video circulating on social media, a masked protester in Marseille can be seen holding an aerosol spray can up to a lighter, spraying flames into a woman’s face. Smoke rises from the victim’s hair as she tries to shield herself.
The attacker, who is reportedly 15 years old, was arrested by police.
