Himachal Congress president Vinay Kumar today said that the party will stage demonstrations at all district headquarters tomorrow (May 25) against the BJP-led Central Government over the rising prices of petrol and diesel. He urged all district presidents to ensure the participation of party leaders, office-bearers, frontal organisations, and workers in the protests and to unite against rising inflation.
Expressing concern over the frequent increase in petrol and diesel prices by oil companies, Kumar said it appeared that the Modi government at the Centre had given oil companies a free hand to “loot” the people of the country. He said the continuous rise in fuel prices is pushing the country deeper into the trap of inflation every day. “The increase in petrol and diesel prices has also caused the prices of essential commodities to soar,” he said.
Kumar further said that the state BJP had remained completely silent on the issue of rising fuel prices. Criticising the BJP, he alleged that the party only indulges in politics and plays with people’s emotions. “The Congress stands with the people against this injustice and will not step back from any movement,” he said.
Targeting state BJP leaders, Kumar said the BJP was frustrated by the results of the urban local body elections, and was heading towards disintegration. He further said that the Congress would emerge victorious in the Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) elections as well. “The BJP tries to mislead people, but now it would not succeed in doing so,” he said.
