
TENOM: Water levels in the Padas River continued to rise as of Saturday evening, submerging several flood-prone villages.
District Officer Mas Syazwan Masood said authorities were closely monitoring the situation, as the water level showed no signs of receding.
Mas Syazwan, who also chairs the District Disaster Management Committee, confirmed that some residents had already relocated to village cultural halls as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, Melalap Community Development Leader Simon Mamat reported that several villages, including Kampung Ponontomon, Batu-Batu, Saga Laut, Pantungon, Mandalom Lama/Tinibui, Tumantalik, Binsilon, and Binai, were inundated by Saturday evening.
