BEAUFORT: Tourism operations in Kg Gerama, which was halted for a long time, have resumed thanks to the government’s initiative through the recently completed Sungai Gerama maintenance project.
Lumadan Assemblyman Datuk Ruslan Muharam said in addition to tourism, the endeavour allows fishermen in the area to sail out to sea without difficulty.
According to him, the Gerama River was once shallow and overgrown, making passage difficult, especially at low tide, harming tourism and fishing operations.
“This caused local tourism operations being unable to accept tourists’ bookings, forcing many to close their operations.
