Athletic Bilbao president Aitor Elizegi is delighted with Inaki Williams' new contract.
The striker has penned a new nine-year contract.
"When we asked Inaki for a compromise when the club needed it, when in January or February we were still not clear about what was to come [as we were in a fight against relegation], there was no doubt on his part," Elizegi said.
"He worked patiently while he came to an agreement that, as has been clear, is important.
"It marks a path for us and for many of the young players at the club.
"This summer, it's difficult to find a more important signing than Inaki.
"It would be very difficult [for us] to find that profile of player.
"The most important thing is that we found him in Lezama.
"He could have chosen another club and he chose Athletic Club."
