Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said emergency cash assistance of RM1,000 will be given to each family displaced by floods and sheltered at the Penampang Cultural Centre.

The State Government sympathises with their plight so it is prepared to give the assistance, said Hajiji in a statement.

"The Federal government through the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives of Malaysia Datuk Ewon Benedick who is Penampang MP would also be lending a hand," he said.

Hajiji also urged all local authorities throughout the state to be on high alert in view of the rainy season which has flloded many parts of Sabah.
