Kota Kinabalu: A two-year-old Range Rover worth about RM1 million was destroyed after it caught fire near City Mall along the congested Kolombong flyover on Thursday.
The incident occurred around 8.30am when the 48-year-old driver, heading from Bundusan towards Kolombong, noticed smoke from his vehicle and pulled over.
Upon opening the bonnet, the car suddenly burst into flames, destroying the engine.
Firefighters arrived shortly after and extinguished the blaze.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Kolombong flyover is one of the city’s busiest routes, especially during morning peak hours.
