KUALA LANGAT, Sept 2 — Selangor is aiming for six million of its residents to benefit from the Insurans Hayat Selangor (Insan) life general insurance scheme, which will be launched in October.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state government is currently finalising the process of implementing the insurance coverage, including selecting an agency to handle the scheme.

“We are currently reviewing it and expect to finalise the matter in the next session of the State Executive Council Meeting (MMKN).

“In principle, Insan’s implementation has been agreed upon by all, but we are still taking the process into account. Selangor has between six and seven million people. So we are targeting six million residents to register under Insan,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking to reporters at the officiation ceremony for the rebranding of the Sultan Abdul Samad Library in Kuala Langat, earlier today.

On August 30, the Menteri Besar announced that six million residents will receive group general insurance coverage, and the state government will fully bear the premium costs.

Offered to residents starting from 30 days old to 80 years of age, Insan seeks to ease the burden of those facing a myriad of problems.

Amirudin said every individual under Insan’s coverage is qualified to receive RM10,000 in the event of for death, accidents, and injuries by type.

The scheme, with RM60 billion in cover value, opens for registration on October 1.
