The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has uncovered more than RM100 million in cash during a high-profile raid at the residence of a former aide to ex-Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Sources familiar with the investigation revealed that the enormous sum was hidden in multiple bags and safes spread across different rooms in the house. Graft busters also confiscated documents, jewellery, and electronic devices during the raid as part of their ongoing probe into suspected corruption, abuse of power, and money laundering.

The operation, led by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission MACC’s special investigation team, followed months of careful surveillance. Authorities are now working to trace the origins of the seized funds, including possible connections to political financing.

Confirming the development, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki announced that four of the former prime minister’s aides had been taken into custody to assist in the probe. While he refrained from disclosing the exact amount recovered, Azam described it as a “hefty amount.”

Public interest in the case has surged, with many questioning how such a vast amount of cash ended up in the possession of a former government aide. The discovery has reignited concerns over corruption within Malaysia’s political landscape, prompting calls for greater transparency and stricter oversight on financial dealings linked to political figures.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri was admitted to a hospital in Kota Damansara after collapsing at home on Saturday morning due to high blood pressure. His press secretary, Azran Fitri Rahim, confirmed that the former prime minister is in stable condition and recovering.

As investigations continue, the case is expected to have far-reaching implications, potentially exposing deeper layers of financial misconduct and political corruption. The MACC remains tight-lipped on further details, but more revelations are anticipated in the coming days.
