Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) seized 4,000 litres of diesel valued at RM104,500 at SJK (C) Kuok Ming, Jalan Sin San, Pasir Putih Tawau, on Wednesday.
In the 2.20pm raid, a KPDN team seized diesel found in 18 drum units with a capacity of 200 litres and in a trailer tank with a capacity of 20,000 litres, each of 2,000 litres.
Sabah KPDN Director Georgie ABAS said an Isuzu Single Cab vehicle, modified Fiber Tank with a capacity of 1,000 litres, rubber hose, two oil pump machines and trailer hitch were also seized.
“A 31-year-old local, believed to be a storekeeper, was arrested and his statement taken. The premises did not have any valid permission and licence to store diesel oil at the location in question,” he said in a statement.

Read more Georgie said the case is being investigated under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for possessing a controlled item which is diesel oil with the intention of committing an offence.
He warned that individuals found guilty under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 face a fine up to RM1 million and up to RM3 million or three years in jail, or both, for subsequent offences.
As for companies, they can be fined up to RM2 million for the first offence and up to RM5 million for subsequent offences, if found guilty.
“We will continue to hold checks and monitor activities related to controlled goods in Sabah to curb misappropriation,” Abas said.
