
For the upgrading of irrigation and drainage infrastructure programmes throughout the State, Masidi said a total of RM168.34 million is allocated for operation and development expenditure as well as Federal Reimburseables.
The implementation of these programmes not only increases the enabler for the State’s rice production but also reduces the impact of floods on the lives, properties and daily activities of the people, he said, adding the projects to be implemented starting next year among others are the Upgrading of Gana Irrigation Scheme, Tambunan and Tambalang Pendamai Flood Mitigation Plan Project, Tuaran.
“The State Government is attentive towards the fate and welfare of rubber smallholder farmers and therefore, will continue to provide Production Incentive for Rubber Smallholders amounting to RM20 million to stabilise the current volatility of rubber prices.
“Apart from that, a total of RM17.01 million is allocated to the Sabah Rubber Industry Board (LIGS) for operation and development expenditure. This demonstrates our commitment to strengthen the fundamentals of this industry, ensuring that it remains relevant and competitive internationally,” he said.
