KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Government will spend RM195.5 million in 2026 to protect natural resources and biodiversity, focusing on air, water, wildlife, and social-environmental programs.

The Sabah Forestry Department receives RM144 million, including RM123.45 million for 30 projects under the 13th Malaysia Plan, supporting climate change mitigation, carbon credit initiatives, and community benefit-sharing.

The Environmental Protection Department is allocated RM8.89 million for eight projects, while the Sabah Wildlife Department gets RM35.55 million for 13 projects to safeguard wildlife and manage human–wildlife conflicts.

Additionally, RM2.08 million is set aside for the Sabah Biodiversity Centre to develop biotechnology initiatives benefiting industrial, medical, and agricultural sectors.
