CIVIL servants in Sabah will enjoy a Special Financial Assistance of RM2,000 next year, said State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

The assistance will be paid in two stages – the first RM1,000 in January 2024 and another RM1,000 before Hari Raya Aidilfitri. It would be disbursed to all civil servants, including temporary, contract and daily paid workers.

“I hope this incentive will further motivate Sabah civil servants to serve with enthusiasm and strive even harder in order to enhance the quality of service delivery to the people.

“The Government highly appreciates the commitment and efforts of civil servants in carrying out their assigned duties for the prosperity and wellbeing of the people,” he said.

Masidi said RM25.06 million has also been allocated to encourage continuous learning among civil servants to ensure they have the knowledge, expertise and skills to carry out their assigned duties.

The function of check and balance has been added by strengthening the Internal Audit Section in the Finance Ministry to an Internal Audit Department under the Chief Minister’s Department beginning next year.

“This department will ensure that the state ministries, departments and agencies optimise the utilisation of the allocated funds effectively,” he said.

Masidi said an allocation is also given to the State’s Integrity and Governance Section (Bigons) under the State Secretary Office to coordinate programmes on integrity and anti-corruption culture with the goal of an excellent State administration system.

“Allocations are also provided to all ministries and departments under operational expenditure to ensure the smooth implementation of all planned programmes,” he said, adding that it is a testament of the State Government towards cultivating integrity among civil servants.

He also said 799 new positions to meet the required workforce were created this year, to balance increasingly challenging and complex workloads and further enhance the effectiveness of the public service delivery.
